House is rented! BUT now we have to finish the master suite...AHHH!
After a week or two of being listed for rent we found some great renters! Big relief for James and I, but now this means we have a lot of work to do on 1167 Jackson to make it liveable for our new renters. The main project is finishing up the bathroom we are currenlty adding to the upstairs level. We are converting a big walk-in closet to be the master bath and have added a new walk-in closet to complete the master suite. I'll keep posting photos as our project completes. Sorry for the low quality images - used the camera on my phone.

The $5 Makeover
James and I finally solved a small issue we had been struggling with in our bathroom - window treatment or not to window treatment our only source of natural light in that room. Now to our neighbors, seeing inside our bathroom probably was more of a bigger issue then small ;) so we needed to solve it fast.
First we had mini-blinds that came with the house up for almost half a year, which every time I saw them I felt like we were renters instead of the actual owners of the home. We pulled those down and put up a dark brown, natural roman shade, but it just made the room too dark during the day. So off to Home Depot where we found Rust-Oleum Specialty Frosted Glass Spray. Incredibly easy to use and cheap!
We just lightly washed the windows and after taping the sides up,
we sprayed about 3 coats on each pane.
In less than an hour we had the perfect amount of privacy and natural light. The only downside was the smell! Just terrible, so make sure it's a nice day so you can open some windows for fresh air. Also, between coats make sure you wipe off the extra frost dust on the glass so the next coat applies thicker.

It's Okay To Hate
We are not fans of pedestal sinks (see below). Sure they look quaint, can be very inexpensive and take up hardly any space, but don’t let those pros blind you from the real issue–no counter space! For a girl that is probably the worst a sink could ever do to you.
We disposed of our pedestal sink mainly because we are currently sharing one bathroom and I needed, you guessed it, counter space. But not only that, we also needed storage below the sink for everyday things like my hair dryer, lotion, extra toilet paper , et cetera that we didn’t want to either display proudly or keep running out to the hall closet to grab.
We got the new sink (see above) at Lowe's for around $150. The kicker to this whole story is that not only did we got tons more storage space,but our new sink actually makes our bathroom appear bigger because it doesn’t jut out as far as the pedestal sink. Besides removing the pedestal sink we have also done some more updates so below is the more improved bathroom.
So now that I’ve torn down pedestal sinks thin veil of pride I’ll build it back up by posting this amazingly rare barber sink I found at Recyclingthepast.com. Don’t tell anyone, but I love it!
